FAQs

The Explore1 is powered by 2 x 1100 mAh inbuilt batteries.

On our pre-production testing, the batteries are lasting for approx 10 hours.

The Explore1 is charged via a reversible USB-C. This will be shipped with the helmet.

You cannot adjust ventilation on the Explore1, however the nine points of ventilation on the helmet ensure adequate airflow inside the helmet.

The cushioned skullcap liner is fully removable and machine washable.

The Explore1 helmet is not currently certified for racing, however this is an area being investigated.

The Explore1 has been designed with ease of use and convenience in mind. All functionality on the helmet can be used without having to remove your gloves. The ergonomically designed buttons are large and easy to access with gloved hands.

The Explore1 comes in six different sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL.

Youth Large – 51-52cm

Adult Small – 53-54cm

Medium – 55-56cm

Large – 57-58cm

X-Large – 59-60cm

XX-Large – 61-62cm

The best way to measure your head is with a measuring tape. Start in the middle of your forehead and wrap the tape around the circumference of your head. You should always wear the helmet positioned low enough in front of your head to protect your forehead, but not so low that it impairs your vision.

You can purchase a separate GoPro vent clip for the Explore1 which mounts your GoPro securely to the top of the helmet. This feature can also be used for other actions cameras that fit onto a GoPro mount.

The Explore1 helmet is designed specifically for snow, mountain & concrete sports and is not DOT certified therefore cannot be used on a motorbike.

The helmet can be paired with any make of goggles, however we cannot guarantee the fit and functionality will be as perfect as with the Explore1 goggles. The Explore1 helmet and goggles have been developed together for a seamless integration and to ensure adequate ventilation and maximum viewing angles.

It can be used without a smartphone, however a smartphone or IOS device is needed to access the LinkPro app and to set up the helmet at installation and select helmet frequency. Once that is completed however, a smart phone is not needed to control the helmet settings moving forward. Without a smartphone, the user would be able to use the helmet to helmet functionality but wouldn’t be able to access any Bluetooth functionality such as making and taking calls, listening to music, asking Siri etc.

You can program the helmet to work with existing walkie talkie frequencies as long as everyone in your group is using the same frequency.

There is also the option to manually plug in a walkie talkie directly to the helmet should this be required.

We recommend that you charge the helmet overnight at the end of each day as you would a smartphone. You plug the charger into the USB-C input located on the left hand side of the helmet.

The LinkPro app can be downloaded via the Apple App Store or Google Play for the Android version. The app is free to download.

You can opt not to listen to music on the helmet but still enjoy the other features including making calls, answering calls, Siri and helmet to helmet communication. You control your music directly from your phone, so if you would rather not listen to any music then simply don’t play music!

The Explore1 has a sound transparency feature which enables the user to control the amount of the outside environment that is heard through the helmet speakers. The sound transparency level is controlled via the dashboard page of the LinkPro app where you can alter the percentage of the outside environment you hear through the helmet.

You can place your smartphone into ‘Airplane mode’ and it will disable the phone/helmet from being able to receive or make calls. The helmet to helmet communication feature would still work as normal, as would your music playlists. To be able to receive and make calls, you would just turn off Airplane mode. This is all controlled via the main settings page on your smartphone (i.e not the LinkPro app). Remember that you always need to have Bluetooth® enabled on your phone.

Many people enjoy listening to music on the slopes and feel it enhances their experience. Others find it distracting and feel it compromises their ability to be aware of what is going on around them. The Explore1 has been designed with a sound transparency feature so that users can still listen to music but also hear a level of the outside environment through their helmet. The level of sound transparency is up to the individual, however we would always recommend users implement a degree of caution to their outside environment and pay attention to what is going on around them at all times.

The skullcap liner of the helmet is fully detachable and can be washed for ongoing quality maintenance and hygiene.

We do not recommend paints or solvents of any kind be used on the helmets. They can damage a helmet so that its protective capabilities are significantly reduced. For users wishing to make their helmet unique, we recommend they purchase additional coloured peak and clip extras.

After each use, we recommend you allow the helmet to air dry and then it should be stored in it’s protective bag in a warm, dry place to avoid any damage. The helmet should be stored away from direct sunlight.

Goggle lenses can be damaged by many common cleaners and materials. For best results, clean lenses using a soft cloth to remove fingerprints and smudges. If they’re dirty you can use warm water and mild soap (such as a mild dish soap) to remove the dirt, then allow the lenses to dry before wiping them clean with a cloth. After each use, clean the lenses carefully and then store in a cool, dry place, preferably in the protective case case they come with.

You can still communicate with people who aren’t wearing an Explore1 helmet.

Providing they have a mobile phone you could call their mobile phone from your mobile phone via the helmet, or use Skype or Whatsapp calling if you both had internet connection.

Alternatively, if someone had a walkie talkie they could assign it to the same frequency as the Explore1 helmet and you could speak to them using FM connection.

The helmet and integrated communication system has been rigorously tested and designed to meet global safety standards therefore we are confident in the products abilities to work well for a long time. However, should your helmet become faulty then we will do our upmost to fix the problem or provide you with a replacement under the manufacturing warranty.
In areas where there is no cellphone connection, it just means that you will not be able to receive phone calls through the helmet from your smartphone or use any of the functionality on your smartphone that requires cell coverage. The benefit of the Explore1 is that the helmet to helmet communication works over FM connection and therefore keeps you connected at all times on the mountain, for free, without the need to use your phone.
The only time an internet connection is required is to download the LinkPro app from the app store when you first purchase the helmet. The helmet doesn’t require an internet connection to function on an ongoing basis.
